General
An introduction to Alenka, the services available and the businesses they support.
What is Alenka Media?+
Alenka Media provides managed background music, in-store radio and digital signage for customer-facing businesses. The services are designed for both individual venues and multi-location operations.
What services does Alenka provide?+
Alenka provides SmartMusic for managed business music and branded audio, and SmartSignage for remotely managed screen content. Businesses can choose either service according to their requirements.
What kinds of businesses use Alenka?+
Alenka supports retail stores, shopping malls, supermarkets, restaurants, cafés, hotels, bars, gyms, spas, salons, workplaces, healthcare environments and other customer-facing businesses.
Can Alenka support one location and multi-location networks?+
Yes. Alenka plans support individual locations, while tailored enterprise arrangements are available for businesses that need central management across multiple sites.
Where does Alenka operate?+
Alenka works with businesses across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. Service availability, pricing and music-licensing requirements can vary by market.
Background Music
SmartMusic, music options, programming, licensing and playback.
What is SmartMusic?+
SmartMusic is Alenka’s managed background-music platform for business. It supports curated music, scheduling, remote management and offline-resilient playback.
What is the difference between royalty-free and licensed commercial music?+
Royalty-free plans use music cleared for the service without the same local public-performance licensing requirements as familiar commercial catalogues. Licensed commercial music includes recognisable tracks, and local music-rights licences may still be required.
Do I need a separate public-performance licence?+
That depends on the country, catalogue, venue and way the music is used. Local licensing may be required for commercial music. Alenka’s music-licensing guides are a practical starting point, but official requirements should be confirmed for the relevant market.
Can playlists be tailored to my brand and venue?+
Yes. Music can be selected around brand personality, audience, venue type, location, language, mood and time of day.
Can music change at different times of day?+
Yes. Daypart scheduling can change music and messaging to suit different trading periods, service moments or audience needs.
Will the music continue if the internet connection drops?+
Once content has been downloaded to the player, playback can continue during a temporary internet interruption. A connection is still needed for initial setup, updates and reporting.
Can announcements and in-store messages be scheduled?+
Yes. SmartMusic supports customisable in-store messaging that can be scheduled alongside music programming.
Digital Signage
SmartSignage content, scheduling, remote management and playback.
What is SmartSignage?+

What content can I show on SmartSignage?+

Can screen content be scheduled?+
Yes. Content and playlists can be scheduled so the appropriate campaign or message appears at the required date and time.
Can screens be managed remotely?+
Yes. Authorised users can manage content, schedules and screens remotely through the SmartSignage dashboard.
Can different screens or locations show different content?+
Yes. Content can be organised for individual screens, locations or groups so each display can show material suited to that environment.
Will digital signage continue if the internet connection drops?+
Downloaded content can continue playing during a temporary internet interruption. The connection is required for setup, new content, schedule changes and reporting.
What devices can run SmartSignage?+
SmartSignage uses an Android player. Alenka can advise on a suitable device and screen setup for the intended deployment.
